We are Laura and Francesco — musicians, educators, researchers and artistic collaborators. Our collaboration began in 2012 at the music middle school in Fossombrone, Italy, where we developed a shared interest in the potential of collaborative music-making as a tool for learning, creativity and connection.

Over the years, our work has brought together musical performance, education and research. At the Liceo Musicale in Pesaro, we continued to explore creative and participatory approaches to music education, with particular attention to improvisation, ensemble music-making and the role of the learner as an active participant in the creative process.

Our research has increasingly focused on improvised music with children, exploring how free improvisation and collaborative music-making can create spaces for agency, creativity, communication and well-being. Alongside our artistic and educational practice, we have developed and documented these approaches through academic research and publications in the fields of music education and music and well-being.

In 2022, we moved to Copenhagen, bringing our experience and research into a new cultural and educational context. Living and working here has allowed us to further develop our practice through collaborations with children, families, schools, libraries and cultural institutions.

Our work is rooted in the belief that music is not simply something to be taught or performed, but a space for participation, exploration and shared creation. Through improvisation, listening and collaboration, we create musical experiences in which everyone can contribute, regardless of age or previous musical experience.

Through Dubaduba, we bring together our artistic practice, educational experience and ongoing research, developing inclusive musical environments where creativity and human connection can flourish.

“Education is always an act of trust in the human being, in their potential for development and their ability to shape the future.”
